Protecting the Sawtooth National Forest from excessive motorized recreation
The Sawtooth National Forest in Idaho designated a system of motorized recreation routes without including the public in the decisionmaking process, and didn’t properly account for conservation values.
Working with our Idaho partners at The Wilderness Society, the Idaho Conservation League, and the Prairie Falcon Audubon we’re protecting the Sawtooth National Forest from excessive motorized recreation use. In the late winter of 2008, the Sawtooth issued a final decision designating a system of motorized recreation routes. Unfortunately, the Sawtooth cut the public out of the decisionmaking process, and didn’t properly account for conservation values. We’re working hard to remedy those deficiencies.
