Working closely with our strategic partner, Amigos Bravos, the Western Environmental Law Center is pursuing a variety of state-based advocacy efforts to protect New Mexicans’ right to clean water. This work involves: (1) protection of ecologically and recreationally outstanding rivers and streams; (2) broad coverage for all of New Mexico’s waters to close loopholes created by pervasive industry attacks on the federal Clean Water Act; (3) development of strong water quality protections to restore clean water for all New Mexicans and to build ecological resilience in the face of ongoing and intensifying threats, such as climate change.
