Intervention to Protect Critical Habitat of the Mexican Spotted Owl

The Western Environmental Law Center is representing the Center for Biological Diversity in intervening on behalf of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in a suit filed by the ranching industry. The suit seeks to set aside critical habitat protections for the endangered Mexican spotted owl, protections which the Center and WELC attorneys have fought hard to get put in place. The habitat protections are not just important for the owl, but also are key to protecting the old growth forests in the Southwest which the owl depends on for habitat and prey.
